Wasps back Richard Haughton has received a two-week ban for dangerous play in his club's Aviva Premiership game against Sale Sharks earlier this month.

Haughton appeared before Rugby Football Union disciplinary officer Judge Jeff Blackett on Tuesday after being reported by independent citing officer Alan Mansell.

Haughton admitted lifting Sale scrum-half Will Cliff and dropping or driving him into the ground.

He was banned from March 10 - the date Wasps imposed an internal suspension - and can play again on March 24, three days before Wasps resume their Premiership campaign with an away game against Northampton.
