Cardiff Blues have received a blow ahead of their vital Heineken Cup meeting with Gloucester at Kingsholm on Sunday after it was revealed that skipper Paul Tito is likely to miss the clash with a knee injury.

Tito sustained a strain to his knee ligaments during the Blues' last-gasp Magners League loss to Leinster at the RDS on Saturday.

"Paul is very, very doubtful," Blues coach Dai Young told the South Wales Echo. "It isn't a long-term problem, but he has strained his medial ligament in his knee. It's very unlikely he will be fit for the Gloucester game, but he should be fit for the visit of Calvisano."

The Blues are also facing an anxious wait on the fitness of All Black fullback Ben Blair, currently struggling with a broken bone in his hand. "We are looking at Ben and will make a decision on Wednesday," said Young. "He can pass the ball but we won't risk him if he isn't fit."
