Gloucester's Nick Wood is a solid loose-head prop who has a reputation as one of the Premiership's most consistent front-rowers.
Wood joined Gloucester's academy from Radley College and fast became a first team regular. He has represented England at Under 21 level and Saxons level but the Test cap is still eluding him.
Due to injuries, he was called into the full England touring party of South Africa and was due to start, but succumbed to an injury himself. He was named in the England 2009 summer squad for the matches against the Barbarians and Argentina but failed to make his Test debut. But he continued to excel at Saxons level and turned out in the 2010 Churchill Cup.
The 2010-11 season saw a solid effort from Nick as he made more than 30 appearances for the first team. And he followed this up with a similar story in the 2011-12 season which ended with him being nominated for the Premiership Player of the Year.
Come the 2012-13 campaign, Wood continued as first choice loose-head for Gloucester as he made 29 appearances for the Cherry and Whites. But at the start of the 2013-14 season, Wood was in the headlines for the wrong reasons after he was shown a straight red card for stamping on Saracens flanker Jacques Burger after just 73 seconds in the second match of the campaign.
