Leinster are hopeful that Brian O'Driscoll and Gordon D'Arcy will be fit for their Heineken Cup quarter-final showdown with Clermont Auvergne on April 9.

The centres were injured during Ireland's Six Nations defeat to Scotland at Croke Park last weekend, with O'Driscoll suffering from a medial ligament strain and D'Arcy a groin strain.

Head coach Michael Cheika confirmed that D'Arcy could be in contention for their Magners League derby against Munster on April 2 while O'Driscoll is targeting the Clermont tie for his return.

D'Arcy recently recovered from heavy knee bruising in order to start Ireland's final Six Nations game, which saw Scotland's Dan Parks deprive them of a Triple Crown with a late penalty.

"With Brian [O'Driscoll] we're targeting his return for Clermont and Gordon [D'Arcy] is pretty confident that after a five or six day rest that he could play against Munster," Cheika said in his preview for this weekend's meeting with Connacht.

"In terms of the returning players, everyone's different. I think that players generally like coming back into a fresh environment and even though we gave all of the Ireland players time off until this Thursday, around 80% of them have already come back of their own accord."
