Dragons flanker Robin Sowden-Taylor has announced his retirement from rugby.

The 28-year-old Wales international, capped eight times between 2005 and 2009, will now pursue interests outside of rugby.

Sowden-Taylor played the majority of his career with Cardiff Blues before being released by the region in 2010, when he made the short journey to the Dragons.

"After considerable deliberation I have decided that the time has come for me to pursue and develop new avenues for the next stage of my life," he said. "I have been a professional rugby player for over 10 years, I am proud of that and I have achieved my lifelong ambition of playing for Wales.

"At the age of 28 I know that the time has now come to move forward with my life and gain new experiences while I am still young enough to appreciate them."
