Ulster maintained their unbeaten run to the start of the RaboDirect PRO12 season with a 19-12 victory over second-placed Scarlets on Sunday.

Fly-half Paddy Jackson kicked 16 points while wing Andrew Trimble claimed the only try of the game as he ran 70 metres after an interception. The Scarlets did at least manage an injury-time losing bonus point as number 10 Aled Thomas kicked his fourth penalty.

Leinster are third after scoring five tries to dispatch Zebre 37-7 on Saturday evening. Zebre, who are without a win in their debut season in the PRO12, scored through Tito Tebaldi, but they were never in the match. Andrew Conway and Jonathan Sexton scored in the first-half for Leinster and they piled on three more in the second-half with Fergus McFadden grabbing a double and Cian Healy also powering over.

Earlier on Saturday, Edinburgh outscored Connacht by three tries to two in as they picked up just their second away victory since January thanks to a 24-23 triumph. Tim Visser, Matt Scott and Stuart McInally all crossed for the Scottish side in Galway, with Willie Faloon and Danie Poolman touching down for the hosts. Greig Laidlaw provided the assists for the Scott and McInally tries, in addition to his kicking haul of three conversions and a penalty.

CJ Stander marked his home debut for Munster with two tries as they bagged a late bonus point in their 31-3 victory over Glasgow Warriors in Limerick on Saturday night. The South African flanker lunged over from a close-in ruck for his first, but his second - nearing half-time - was a dazzling diagonal run out of the Munster 22 that saw him outpace the Glasgow chasers.

His back-row colleague Tommy O'Donnell sandwiched a try in between, leaving the province 24-3 ahead at the break with Ronan O'Gara landing three conversions and a penalty. DTH van der Merwe went closest to crossing the whitewash for the Warriors, who leaked a penalty try to the hosts with six minutes remaining, which O'Gara converted.

Elsewhere, the Newport Gwent Dragons remain in trouble at the foot of the standings after going down to a 32-13 defeat against Treviso at Stadio Comunale di Monigo on Saturday. Tom Prydie scored a try and kicked the rest of the Dragons' points but the visitors had no answer to the greater attacking threat of the Italians, who ran in tries by Edoardo Gori, Christian Loamanu (two), Luke McLean and Tobias Botes.

And on Friday, fly-half Matthew Morgan kicked 18 points as the Ospreys secured a convincing 33-12 derby win over the Blues at the Liberty Stadium in Swansea. The Ospreys scored three tries through lock James King, fullback Richard Fussell and replacement flanker Morgan Allen for a win which lifted them into fourth place in the table. The Blues only managed two penalties apiece for fly-half Ceri Sweeney and fullback Rhys Patchell.
