Built on reclaimed marshland, the Anderstorp circuit lay in an open green setting of endless fir trees, giving in the feeling of similarity with the Nurburgring, albeit without the hills. Tight with several gently banked corners and a surface that ate tyres, it was full of delights. It began with a short blast to the banked Start Kurvan which then fed the cars back past the grandstands before doubling back through Opel onto the second longest straight, albeit still short. The twistiest sector followed before, strangely, passing the pits. Then, the back straight into the best overtaking place, Grandpa's Corner.

For a brief period when Ronnie Peterson was a force, the circuit hosted the Swedish Grand Prix, but his death, and that of Gunnar Nilsson, in 1978 spelt an end to the race. The venue continues to host other motorsport events.
