Some drivers have "future star" written all over them; others have to work at their craft. Tiago falls into the latter category. Indeed, he didn't arrive in Formula One in 2005 with glowing credentials. Amazingly, by mid-season, he'd changed most people's opinion through using his head and finishing race after race as faster rivals made mistakes. That he got to spray champagne from the podium showed just how bizarre the US GP had been, as he finished third for Jordan in a race where only six cars started, after the Michelin-shod teams had withdrawn. More impressive was his drive to eighth in the Belgian GP. Sadly, there was no repeat in 2006 as the team, known as Midland then Spyker, lagged behind.
