Profile
Mike Beuttler graduated to F1 through the ranks of Formula 3 and Formula 2, he entered the first of his 28 races in 1971 in a privately-funded March. The financing for the team came courtesy of wealthy friends in the City (the car was nicknamed the Stockbroker Special) but the car was not overly competitive and the best he managed was seventh in the 1973 Spanish GP. He retired from racing in 1974 and moved to the USA where he died of complications resulting from AIDS in 1988. His sister married the flamboyant Conservative politician Alan Clark.
