Nico Hulkenberg has described Sauber's C32 as "a good baseline" after his first two days in the car at Jerez.

Esteban Gutierrez takes over running for Thursday and Friday after Hulkenberg completed a total of 178 laps during his two days of testing. Having brought his week's running to an end, Hulkenberg said there were no major problems with the new Sauber and that it should give the team a solid start to work from.

"It's something we can build on; I think it's a good baseline," Hulkenberg said. "It needs further development, further work, we know that. In Formula One you cannot stop ... At this point I can't see a big issue. At some point I was looking at the timing monitor and it looked like qualifying already, separated by just a few hundredths! But I think we should be happy with the two days, the car performed reasonably well and like I said it's something we can build on."

Having moved to Sauber from Force India, Hulkenberg declared himself pleased with how he was settling in to his new surroundings.

"I've basically gotten a bit more comfortable with the car in the first two days in the office. Obviously quite a few things and items to get used to so that was my main priority to come here to make sure I'm comfortable in the car seating-wise, comfort-wise and then obviously with the steering wheel etc. Then making sure the car is reliable; we had no issues on that side these two days, we had quite a large test programme already which we completed successfully and two very productive days."
