Nico Hulkenberg said the performance of the Pirelli tyres in Barcelona was making "proper testing" difficult for the teams.

Sauber had a few "technical issues" which Hulkenberg wouldn't elaborate on that punctuated its running on Wednesday and prevented the team doing a long run with the C32. However, just from the shorter runs it did do Hulkenberg said only the first couple of laps provided relevant data due to the tyre degradation.

"It's difficult with the tyres, quite challenging to make them last and get some proper testing on the way," Hulkenberg said. "They're degrading pretty quickly and the continuity and the consistency hasn't been there today and that makes testing very hard."

When asked if there was still an opportunity to assess the car despite the tyre performance Hulkenberg replied: "Yeah you can.

"Not for very long but there is a lap or two in there where you can feel it! It's feeling good, not too bad, still work to be done and I think there's room for improvements. We're still learning and still getting familiarised with the car but I'm not negative about it."
