Felipe Massa is looking forward to a fresh start in 2013 and is aiming to maintain his level of performance from the end of 2012 throughout this year.

Massa struggled at the start of last season as he was comprehensively outperformed by team-mate Fernando Alonso in the tricky F2012. However, towards the end of last year he was more competitive and at the last two rounds set faster qualifying times than Alonso as well as showing impressive race pace.

In the hope that his form continues through to 2013, Massa said he is looking forward to starting from zero points in Australia next month.

"It's always nice to start a new season and the feeling you get thinking about a new season," he said. "Everyone starts with zero points and it's a different car as well. That's always nice and it always makes you confident and happy. I hope this season can be better for us, more competitive and better for me as well. Last year I didn't have a great season, especially the first part, but I had quite a good second part."

Massa said he would aim to start the year at a competitive level but is also looking to improve by the end of the season.

"I'm trying to make a complete season in a good direction from the beginning to the end," he added. "It's always a nice feeling, so I hope we can start at a good level and finish even better."
