Beating Chilton not the priority - Bianchi
New Marussia driver Jules Bianchi has said beating team-mate Max Chilton will not be his main concern this year as he hopes to help the team move up the grid.
Bianchi was drafted in at the final test and has completed just a day and a half in the car ahead of the first race in Melbourne next weekend. He is going up against Chilton this year, who completed extra mileage during testing due to the uncertainty over his team-mate, but Bianchi said his primary concern is to help move Marussia off the back rows of the grid.
"Obviously we are always driving to be quick, but it's not only to beat your team-mate but also to improve the car and beat the other teams in the paddock," he said when asked about his targets for 2013. "We are trying to do our best and we will see."
Bianchi was also in talks for a Force India seat over the winter and is the only driver on the grid to have sampled two 2013 cars during testing.
Asked how the Marussia compared with the Force India, he said: "We are trying to improve but we need time. Maybe before Melbourne it will be a bit tight, but during the season I'm sure we will improve a lot."
