Pirelli believes it's delivering for F1
Pirelli motorsport director Paul Hembery says the tyre manufacturer has delivered for Formula One in recent races.
Having come in for criticism over its tyre compounds earlier in the season, Pirelli was under close scrutiny following the British Grand Prix which saw a number of tyre failures. However, it has responded with two exciting, strategic races in Germany and Hungary prior to the mid-season break and Hembery believes they have been two strong examples of the benefits of having rapidly degrading tyres.
Asked if it felt like Pirelli had answered its critics at the last two grands prix, Hembery said: "We don't set out to do that, we just wanted to get things back on-line.
"It's a different type of race between [Hungary] and the Nurburgring, but we've seen some good racing. If you've been watching it as a fan on telly I'm sure you've enjoyed it.
"That's what we're here to do; to deliver what we've been asked to do and I think the last two races are a good testimony to the approach that we've been asked to deliver with the current cars. It's been good racing."
