Rosberg enjoys chasing Hamilton

Nico Rosberg said it was good to be able to chase his team-mate Lewis Hamilton during the Belgian Grand Prix but was disappointed not to be more competitive.

Although Hamilton started on pole position, he eventually slipped back to third place while Rosberg held station in fourth and was close behind his team-mate in the final stint of the race. The gap dropped to two seconds at one stage and Rosberg said he was fully attacking to try and catch Hamilton; something which he'd really enjoyed.

"I wasn't keeping any distance, I was giving it everything I've got to try and get past him," Rosberg said. "So there was no keeping distance, and it was cool to have him to chase; it's a good feeling knowing that I have the pace.

"So that was OK but a little bit of a pity all-in-all this weekend because I've been a little bit on the back foot all weekend ever since qualifying. Qualifying didn't go perfectly - just a little bit of bad luck - and then the race strategy you're always a little bit on the back foot because I'm a bit further back. So that cost me a bit of points today but still fourth is OK and it's a good points haul again for the team going in the right direction."

Rosberg added that he believes Mercedes can challenge for wins in upcoming races even if Spa had not been its most competitive weekend.

"Solid is maybe the best way to describe it; not a fantastic day but decent. Good for the team scoring lots of points but we didn't have the pace to really go for the win today which is a pity.

"I think there's a chance [of wins] in the next few races, they're all very different again. Monza is going to be different and Singapore, so we have a good opportunity to still have some great results. But of course then at some point the time will come when you need to start looking to next year."
