Track changes at Singapore
- Race:
- Singapore Grand Prix
The Singapore Grand Prix will run on an updated circuit next weekend after track modifications were made at Turn 10.
The corner - known as the Singapore Sling - has previously been a three-part chicane due to a lack of run-off available on the street circuit. However, the corner has been modified to be a sweeping left-hander which will result in higher apex speeds and reduced lap time.
Having tested the track changes ahead of the grand prix in the Ferrari simulator, Fernando Alonso expects the modification to reduce the average lap time around Singapore by around one second.
These days working in the simulator. New turn 10 in Singapore this year, without the chicane of before. The lap is around 1sec faster..
