Rosberg wants Brawn to stay at Mercedes

Nico Rosberg says he wants Ross Brawn to remain Mercedes team principal beyond the end of this season.

Brawn's future has been uncertain since the start of the year, and in Korea he was linked with a move to McLaren or Honda next season. While those rumours are believed to be wide of the mark, Brawn is still not certain to remain with Mercedes but Rosberg has stated his desire to see the team principal stay.

"For sure there are discussions on-going - Ross has said - with the team, and for me it would be great if he stays," Rosberg said. "I get on well with him and I think he's a great team principal. At the same time I have confidence in the team leadership's ability to make sure that we have a solid future whatever his decision is because we have a lot of great strength in the team now as it is."

Asked what makes Brawn such a good team principal, Rosberg replied: "His approach, his personality as a team leader; people respect him and he respects people so it's both ways, and just the mentality he puts in to the team is very strong on others. And his general competence, of course."

With team-mate Lewis Hamilton having called Sebastian Vettel's recent dominance of Formula One boring, Rosberg said he isn't concerned that the sport could be being damaged.

"They're doing a great job - Red Bull and Sebastian - both of them together, fantastic, and it's very difficult to beat them. But I still find the sport is massively exciting even with his domination because if you look at Korea I'm sure nine out of ten people will say it was a great race and next year there's a big rule change coming, so chances are it's going to mix things up again and keep things interesting."

And Rosberg added he is hopeful of beating Vettel to pole position again this season too.

"Even Singapore was not even a tenth of a second to Sebastian in qualifying, so he's not that far away and things can always go such that I get a shot."
