A number of drivers have praised Sebastian Vettel for his fourth consecutive drivers' championship.

Fernando Alonso was the only driver who could prevent Vettel from taking the championship in India, but after finishing the race he said: "It's very good, I have to congratulate him. They have been very strong, very dominant, especially in the second half of the season and they deserve to be champions so congratulations. We need to start thinking for next year and hopefully try to make things a little bit more difficult for him."

Alonso's Ferrari team-mate, Felipe Massa, was more effusive in his praise of Vettel both as a driver and a person.

"First of all he deserves everything he gets," Massa said. "Today he definitely signed his name as one of the best Formula One drivers, together with [Ayrton] Senna, together with Michael [Schumacher], and many others that are there always in the top names; for sure his name is there. I'm very happy for him, first of all because he's an incredible driver and second because he's a great boy."

Lewis Hamilton - who has previously claimed fans find Vettel's dominance boring - said: "It's pretty incredible to be a four-time world champion in such a short space of time, so a big congratulations to him."

Vettel's new team-mate in 2014, Daniel Ricciardo, said he was excited to learn from the quadruple world champion.

"He's completely dominant," he said. "The second half of the season he's been untouchable; at the beginning of the year it looked like it was going to be much closer but then he ran away with it. He's been very, very convincing. So I've got a big task next year but I've got the best guy to learn from so I'm excited for that and obviously I congratulate him for a stellar performance."
