'You have to be ruthless at times' - Vettel
Four-time champion Sebastian Vettel has admitted to having a ruthless streak when he gets behind the wheel of a Formula One car.
Vettel secured his fourth title in India last month and has won the last seven races in dominant style. Among his 11 victories this year was the Malaysian Grand Prix when he snatched first place from team-mate Mark Webber despite being told to hold position by the Red Bull pit wall.
Asked if he changes his mindset in the car, Vettel said it was important to be ruthless at times and also quoted Ayrton Senna by saying "if you see a gap you have to go for it".
"You don't really change the person you are but in competition-mode the priority is to do your maximum and try to win," he said. "Not at all costs, but if you see a gap you have to go for it. You have to be ruthless at times but I think you have to be fair and respect your competitors, because equally you want them to respect you."
Vettel can break the record for the most consecutive race wins in a season this weekend, but said it was not playing on his mind.
"It's a long weekend and I'm not really here to break a record. It's a nice grand prix and a nice weekend, and surely I wouldn't mind if it turns out to be the case, but it's not the reason why I jump in the car."
