Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali is aware of Fernando Alonso's frustration this year and insists his team is addressing the issues it has had with car development this season.

Alonso secured second place in the drivers' championship at the weekend, but has only won two races while struggling for pace all year. Around the time of the Hungarian Grand Prix his frustrations appeared to come to a head and he was publically scolded by Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo for speaking out against the team.

Both sides have played down the ruction in recent weeks, but Domenicali acknowledged his driver was frustrated with being second best to Sebastian Vettel.

"For me it's vital we deliver a good car for all of us, because his frustrations are our frustrations," Domenicali said. "If you are not able to give a fast enough car to a driver who is fighting like hell up until the last moment, I think it is then very important that we focus on how we develop the car for the future."

The Ferrari boss admitted his team had gone off the boil in the second half of the year, but stressed that it would not give up ahead of the final race in Brazil.

"Unfortunately we didn't do any kind of step in the second half of the season while it seems other teams have. Mercedes, for example, may not have done a step, but they have improved more than us so something has happened that we need to rectify immediately.

"We have all week to analyse the data to prepare the best car we can for the last grand prix of the season because I am sure Felipe [Massa] would like to do well in his last race with us and we need the points to attack Mercedes and defend third from Lotus."
