Paul di Resta's chances of remaining in Formula One next year are slim after he admitted Sauber is his only realistic option for 2014.

Di Resta's future has been in doubt since a bad run of form midway through the season and took another hit when his Force India team announced Nico Hulkenberg would be one of its drivers next year. Di Resta said he is still talking with Force India, but with Sergio Perez also in advanced negotiations his chances are slim.

"[Force India] are speaking to me every two or three days," Di Resta told Press Association Sport. "They may be interested. They may not. I believe they are in talks with Sergio Perez. It's looking likely that I will not be driving."

Sauber is the only other midfield team yet to announce its 2014 line-up, although Adrian Sutil, Esteban Gutierrez and Russian teenager Sergey Sirotkin are all in the running. Di Resta said his management had made contact but that talks were not very advanced.

"The only team that really has any possibility is Sauber," he said. "There has been nothing other than a chat with my manager."

Before joining Force India in Formula One, di Resta was DTM champion in Germany and said he is in talks with his old Mercedes team about returning to the touring car series next season.
