Crash ends promising Monte Carlo rally for Kubica
Robert Kubica crashed out of the Monte Carlo Rally on Friday afternoon after making a promising start to his first full WRC campaign.
Kubica will drive for M-Sport for the 2014 WRC season and started the year in impressive style by leading in Monte Carlo after the opening two stages on Thursday. However, with heavy snow affecting some stages, he dropped away from the lead but was still in the top three after the opening day.
However, day two saw Kubica crash out on SS9. Having dropped to fourth place, Kubica had been poised to regain third in the standings but skidded off on a section of the stage offering little grip and slid down a bank.
Kubica is focusing on rallying after admitting in November that a return to Formula One looks "nearly impossible" for him at present.
