Austria's Philipp Eng scored his second Formula 2 victory in the second race of the Silverstone season-opener, holding off Jolyon Palmer, the winner of the earlier race. Johan Jokinen finished third after overtaking Jack Clarke when he skidded three laps from the end.

The pair were a long way clear of the rest of the field once Dean Stoneman was forced to retire. "I'm very happy," said Eng. "At the end Jolyon pushed very, very hard. I had one boost left for the last lap so that was perfect."

Palmer, the son of former driver Jonathan, recorded his first F2 win in a dominant performance in which he led throughout. Stoneman again looked good before he spun and in the end was a little over three seconds adrift, with Sergei Afanasiev in third.
