Eng is the Marrakech express

Austria's Philipp Eng and Britain's Dean Stoneman shared the spoils in Morocco, each winning one of the weekend's two Formula Two races to take charge at the top of the drivers' championship. Both races featured big pile-ups on their opening laps.

Eng and Stoneman qualified on pole to win their respective races. On Saturday, Stoneman's early lead was negated when the safety car came out, and he then had an entertaining tussle with Jolyon Palmer, who came to Marrakech at the top of the championship. But Palmer's engine seized three laps from the finish, allowing Stoneman to record his first F2 win 1.2 seconds ahead of Eng.

Eng had enjoyed a real battle of his own with Johan Jokinen, but Jokinen span out allowing Kelvin Snoeks, who had steered clear of the first-lap accidents, to take third.

On Sunday Eng and Stonemanreversed their finishing places, and again only after early drama when Ricardo Teixeira, near the back of the grid, hit the back of Ivan Samarin and barrel-rolled through the air before landing right-side up. Neither driver was hurt. Three other cars were involved and put of out action, including Benjamin Bailly and Nicola de Marco, who were both sidelined the day before as well.

Eng and Jokinen set the early pace before Stoneman found a way past Jokinen, and the pair went wheel to wheel, on more than one occasion actually touching, Eng holding on by a little under two seconds. Will Bratt took third, but Jokinen, who had driven aggressively on both days, again spun out. Palmer looked very out of sorts back in fifth.

The results mean Eng leads the championship on 80 points, with Stoneman second on 60, Palmer third on 53 and Bratt back in fourth on 33.
