Rosberg shocked by Germany training camp accident
Nico Rosberg has expressed his shock after an accident at a driving event at the German football team's World Cup training camp left two people in hospital.
Rosberg was participating in the event in northern Italy on Tuesday, where two people were injured by a car driven by DTM driver Pascal Wehrlein and airlifted to hospital. Two members of the German football team, Benedikt Howedes and Julian Draxler, were reportedly passengers in Wehrlein and Rosberg's cars respectively at the event.
An official statement from Mercedes said: "In the framework of the visit of the training camp of the German soccer national team an accident occurred: the DTM race driver Pascal Wehrlein injured two people who were unexpectedly on the road when driving on a closed track. We can give no information at the moment about the severity of the injuries, both people are undergoing medical treatment. Of course, we support the authorities in the investigation of the circumstances of the accident."
Though the condition of the two pedestrians is unknown, Rosberg took to Twitter to pass on his best wishes.
