Kubica should not be rallying - Massa
Felipe Massa thinks Robert Kubica should quit rallying because it is too dangerous.
Kubica's Formula One career was cut short after sustaining serious arm injuries in a rallying crash ahead of the start of 2011 season. He has since returned to rallying and now competes at the highest level in WRC, but is currently unable to return to F1 due to the after effects of his arm injury.
Kubica has tested a DTM car and driven the Mercedes F1 simulator since his accident and Massa thinks he would be better suited to circuit racing over rallying.
"He's a great driver but I don't think he's doing the right thing, I don't think rallying is the right thing for him," Massa said. "I never saw him after the accident because he never appears - he disappeared from us and I think in rallying he is risking himself. It's better for him to do DTM or a race that is part of his experience and understanding, rallying is very different for us.
"I know he is struggling with his hand to come back to Formula One, but maybe there is another championship he can do. Especially because you always see he is crashing in this race and that race, if I was him I would not be there."
Ferrari was interested in signing Kubica before his accident and Massa thinks he would have fitted the mould.
"I think he had all the talents to drive for Ferrari and other big teams. Maybe I was also in the fighting with him in Ferrari, so maybe it could have been possible to see him in the Ferrari afterwards, but things change. I hope the best for him because he is a very nice guy and a good driver."
Current Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso believes Kubica had the potential to prove himself as the best driver in Formula One.
"He has shown his talent already in the years in Formula One and we also saw his talent in the previous categories, especially go karts where he was racing. He was the same generation as [Lewis] Hamilton, Nico [Rosberg], etc. and he was winning those years so he definitely had the potential to be No.1. He could be here in Ferrari and it would have been a nice opportunity, but unfortunately it didn't happen and I am wishing him the best in rally or whatever he chooses."
