Massa and Perez bring blame game to Twitter

The debate over the last lap accident at the Canadian Grand Prix between Felipe Massa and Sergio Perez has continued long after the race on social network websites.

On Twitter, both Massa and Perez have retweeted freeze frame shots of the accident to try to prove their innocence after giving different versions of events after the race. The accident happened on the final lap as they fought over fourth place, with contact occurring as Massa attempted to pass Perez on the inside.

The stewards deemed Perez was to blame and gave him a five-place grid penalty for the Austrian Grand Prix as punishment. However, Perez is certain Massa is to blame, arguing: "I can't help but notice how Felipe turns right just before he hits me". He later retweeted a picture from Force India's official account which the team believes helps illustrate his argument (above).

However, Massa was also vocal about the accident, claiming Perez has caused similar accidents before. "It's not the first time he turned on someone under braking. It's not the first time, he's done it many times." Massa has since retweeted freeze frames from fans, which he believes show that he was taking the normal racing line as the track bends to the right before Turn 1 and Perez was cutting across him.

Meanwhile, Perez has also taken to Instagram to illustrate his point.
