Lewis Hamilton is confident he has the pace to start winning races again and is staying calm about the gap to team-mate Nico Rosberg in the drivers' standings.

Hamilton has seen a three-point advantage turn into a 29-point deficit in the space of just three races, with a DNF in Canada and a mistake in qualifying in Austria proving particularly costly. However, in each of the last three races Hamilton has shown signs of an on-track advantage over Rosberg and he is confident things will start going his way soon.

"There's not much more I can do, I've got good pace, I just need to execute it," he said. "I will work hard to make sure I do that.

"I'm always learning lessons, and it's always good to remember the points that I've lost by not finishing. A gap of 29 points, even though I haven't finished as many races as I'd like … there are still a lot of race to go.

"There are a lot of positives to take from this weekend [in Austria] and I had a lot of pace this weekend. I didn't capitalise on it but I'll take that into the next race to make sure I do."

Hamilton also revealed that he felt he was down on power compared to Rosberg in Austria and would make sure Mercedes investigates what happened.

"I easily had the pace but my power was dropping and his wasn't, so I need to investigate what that was. We are always trying to manage power, so perhaps it could have been a bit more optimal."
