Romain Grosjean is determined to get back in a winning car next year and has said that might mean leaving Lotus at the end of the year.

Last season was Grosjean's breakthrough year as he scored six podiums with Lotus and ended the season seventh in the drivers' standings. However, in 2014 Lotus has struggled for performance and is down on power with its Renault power plant, leading to rumours that Grosjean is looking elsewhere.

"I've been here for a little bit and I know the team very well, on the other hand I want to win races as well, so things are open," he said. "What I really want is to win my first grand prix, and try to become a world champion, and that's what I'm going to focus on. I know here we have some very good people, and the team is back to fighting level, and that helps things, so we'll see later."

Asked if he could rule out a move from Lotus at this stage, he simply said: "No."

Grosjean added: "I miss fighting for podiums and I miss drinking champagne on a Sunday afternoon. That's what I want - what all of us want - when you taste it once you want to taste it for a long time."

There is also talk of Lotus switching power unit suppliers to Mercedes and Grosjean said it is natural for teams to try to put together the best package.

"Everyone is trying to get the best of what you can from what you can see. The teams are looking at the best options - when it was tyres it was tyre brands, now it's engines so it's looking at engine manufacturers. Drivers are looking for the best car to drive, but that's what it is in sport, you are always looking for the best thing."
