Daniel Ricciardo does not believe the issues which limited his running on Friday will continue into the weekend and expects Red Bull to take the fight to Mercedes at Silverstone.

Ricciardo only completed 11 laps in FP2, though he still went P4 on his fastest run, as he appeared to have a few complaints to his pit wall over radio - saying "something funny is going on" during the morning session. As a result Ricciardo spent a long time in the garage in the afternoon but he said the laps he was able to complete fill him with confidence for Saturday and Sunday.

"Yeah, I think we're ok," Ricciardo replied when asked if the issues where behind him. "I had a few issues there in the afternoon but I think we'll be alright for tomorrow. The good thing is we found some speed in FP2. On the prime it was really, really good, with the option it could definitely be better, we didn't really find any time there. Again there's some positives - if we get it all together tomorrow we should be closer to the Mercedes and ahead of the Ferraris as well."

During both sessions it appeared a number of drivers were struggling with the strong winds, which were causing the most problems through Maggotts/Becketts, something which Ricciardo explained made life difficult for the drivers.

"It played a big role. It changes all through the lap, so the corners where you have headwind the car is really nice, you feel a lot of downforce, then the corners with the tailwind it feels like you've got no wings on the car, it's pretty ugly! I think that explains a few mistakes from drivers today, it was changing quite a lot throughout the lap.

"Through the high-speed it's really good actually. Copse is a lot of fun, we're seventh gear through there, but not flat. We arrive in eighth and then just a little lift to seventh and go flat again. We had a bit of a headwind through Maggotts/Becketts which helped the grip. Hopefully that stays there and it should be a lot of fun in qualifying."
