The stewards will take a "zero tolerance" approach to drivers leaving the track at Copse and Club during qualifying, with those gaining an advantage by going off the circuit having their times deleted.

FIA race director Charlie Whiting called for the same approach to Turn 8 in Austria two weeks ago and 11 drivers had times deleted during qualifying. After discussions on Friday night Whiting reminded the drivers of the zero tolerance policy to the corner exit "unless we are satisfied that a driver left the track at either of these points for reasons beyond his control, having been forced off the track for example.

Drivers who gain a lasting advantage at the two corners during the race will be reported to the stewards.
