Caterham has appointed Sean Walkinshaw Racing as its driver development team in the BRDC Formula 4 Championship.

Caterham's new ownership has bolstered Caterham's junior programme in recent months and has now build on this with a partnership it hopes will identify talent at an even earlier age. Team principal Christijan Albers says the news shows the team is committed to emerging talent.

"A junior formula like BRDC F4 is the perfect scenario to start a racing career and we are very happy with this collaboration with Sean Walkinshaw Racing," Albers said. "If the talent is there, it should be supported and with the SWR - CaterhamF1 Driver Development Programme we are assuring this happens, as well as confirming Caterham F1 Team's interest for young drivers and offering them a development programme from the very start of their careers. We will be watching the drivers of tomorrow closely."

The BRDC Formula 4 Championship has eight triple header events all held in the United Kingdom, with the winner of the series earning a prize test with the Arden Motorsport GP3 team at the Yas Marina Circuit at the end of the season.
