Kimi Raikkonen says he is still having difficulties with the Ferrari F14 T despite an improved result last weekend at the Belgian Grand Prix.

Raikkonen finished fourth at Spa-Francorchamps - his best result since his return to Ferrari earlier this year - which he put down to a weekend without any major car issues. However, with next weekend's Italian Grand Prix at Monza likely to suit Mercedes-powered cars, the Finn said there was no hiding from the fact that Ferrari still has its difficulties.

"We have to make sure we can have a clean weekend, we can try things and run our programme as we should in all practices," Raikkonen said. "The main thing is we had a clean race with no issues, and could push. There were still difficulties with the car handling wise but we expected that. There are things we need to improve but the feelings been there for a while, it's just been compromised by mistakes or things happening to us. A clean weekend would help and make things easier and make the results better."

Raikkonen said Ferrari took some encouragement for Monza from its better-than-expected performance at Spa-Francorchamps.

"Obviously we hope to do well [at Monza], it's a home race so a lot of home fans for Ferrari - we hope to do really well. But we try to do the maximum every race and if we get a clean race, put ourselves in a good position after qualifying, we can do our own stuff and not worry about the others and then get the best result our speed deserves. Hopefully we are surprised with our speed there. As I've said this race [Belgium] and next race look difficult for us but they don't look too bad here. We have to go there, do the best and see where we are."
