Former F1 driver Rubens Barrichello has won his first championship since 1991 after securing Brazil's Stock Car V8 title at the second attempt.

Barrichello, whose 322 stars accumulated over a 19-year career is an F1 record, finished third in the season-ending race in Curitiba to secure the championship for Full Time Sports. It's the first major title for Barrichello since he claimed the British Formula 3 title in 1991, two years before he made his Formula One debut for Jordan.

The series, which has also featured Luciano Burti, Bruno Senna, Nelson Piquet Jr and Lucas di Grassi this season, is considered one of South America's major motor racing series. After leaving F1 in 2011, Barrichello raced in Indycar the following season before switching to the Brazil series full-time in 2013.
