Former F1 driver Mark Webber put aside racing duties in Melbourne on Wednesday as he took tennis superstar Maria Sharpova for a spin in a Porsche 911 ahead ahead of the Australian Open.

Webber, who retired from Formula One in 2013 and now drives for Porsche in the World Endurance Championship, turned chauffeur in his native Australia as he took the Russian to practice. Sharapova, a fellow Porsche ambassador, sat in the passenger seat alongside Webber in the 911 Targa 4S as they drove through Melbourne city centre to the Rod Laver Arena.

It comes just over a month after Webber survived a massive crash at the WEC finale in Brazil, which the Australian said he was a "lucky boy" to walk away from unharmed.
