An unusual lot is set to go under the hammer next week at Christie's auction house in London.

It looks like a McLaren MP4/8 - a car driven to victory by Ayrton Senna on five occasions in 1993 - but is actually a Williams "show car" from the early 1990s. This F1 mongrel does have some genuine Williams parts fitted but was never raced by Williams (or McLaren) and comes sans engine.

It was painted in McLaren colours last year for an event in London to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Senna's fatal accident at Imola.

Despite the rather confusing lineage, it is still expected to fetch between £25,000 and £40,000 when it is auctioned on February 17th.
