Valtteri Bottas is sure Williams has more one-lap pace in the bag after he finished behind both Ferrari's during Friday's qualifying simulations in Australia.

Mercedes finished seven tenths clear of the nearest challenger in FP2 but Williams, who only had Bottas running due to an engine issue with Felipe Massa, found itself behind Ferrari in the pecking order. Bottas finished eight tenths behind Sebastian Vettel and four behind Kimi Raikkonen but he is confident there is more to come on Saturday.

"I think the main thing for us to look at tomorrow is still one- lap performance," Bottas said. "There is still more we can get out of the tyres so that will be the main thing. We couldn't quite maximise the first-lap pace with the option. I'm sure there's more into it so we just need to work on that."

Other than finishing behind Ferrari, Bottas says Williams has every reason to be pleased with the first Friday session of the 2015 season.

"It was a quite OK Friday. We managed to go through the plan and the car felt pretty good straight out of the box, there were only small adjustments during the session. It was just getting information about the tyres; we did some long runs at the end of practice two and that felt quite consistent.

"Long run felt consistent. I did it with the option tyre and it felt consistent. I did it with the option tyre and there was no massive drop off, so that was nice to feel. The car balance was not bad so I expect we will do strongly in the race, we just need to work on the qualifying now. It's only Friday so we don't really have any reason to get 100% out of the car yet. Like last year we are just doing our programme on Friday."
