Jaime Alguersuari won Felipe Massa's charity karting event at Florianopolis on Sunday after Jules Bianchi was disqualified.

With two heats run over the weekend, Bianchi won both on Saturday night in the wet ahead of Alguersuari and Massa, and then again on Sunday in the dry. However, he was excluded from Sunday's race for a weight violation, giving Alguersuari the victory. Lucas di Grassi was second and Rubens Barrichello third in race two.

The end result saw Alguersuari victorious with 45 points ahead of Massa on 29 and di Grassi on 28, and Massa said that his performance was a good sign for 2012.

"After a complicated year like this one, getting to the podium was a positive feeling," Massa told the official Ferrari website. "I am sure this result is a good omen for the next Formula One season."

A number of drivers stayed on in Brazil following the Brazilian Grand Prix to participate in the event, with Adrian Sutil, Pastor Maldonado, Tonio Liuzzi and Jerome d'Ambrosio taking part. As well as the Formula One drivers there were appearances from Nelson Piquet Jr, Ricardo Zonta, Christian Fittipaldi and Tony Kanaan among others.
