Ralf Schumacher expects Michael to continue racing
Ralf Schumacher expects his brother Michael to remain in Formula One with Mercedes beyond the end of his current contract.
Schumacher's contract runs out at the end of the 2012 season, and at the age of 43 there are doubts as to whether the seven-time world champion will continue. His brother Ralf now races in DTM, and when he was asked if Michael's recent outburst at Pirelli's tyres was a result of Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg being victorious before him, Ralf said it wasn't the case but admitted he wouldn't be happy being beaten by his team-mate.
"It has nothing to do with it," Ralf Schumacher told Bild am Sonntag. "But for sure Michael came back to celebrate successes with Mercedes. And until he succeeds, he will not give up. I still see a lot of fire in Michael. He is pushing hard, as we saw as recently as Mugello last week."
Ralf added that the competitive W03 encouraged him that his brother would be successful sooner rather than later, and said he's still fit enough to deliver results.
"I think we will see Michael on the podium soon. At some point, there surely comes a point when the body can't do it any more. But when I look at Michael, that's still a few years away. I certainly won't be racing as long as he has."
