Senna receives Bandini trophy

Bruno Senna has received the Trofeo Lorenzo Bandini at a ceremony in Italy.

Senna was presented with his trophy - awarded for his dedication to motor racing, spirit of competition and achievement - in front of a crowd in Bandini's home town of Brisighella before attending a gala dinner later in the evening. Senna said that he hoped to emulate the successes of some of the previous winners, with world champions Michael Schumacher, Jacques Villeneuve, Jenson Button, Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton all having won the award.

''We had a really sunny day and I felt extremely welcomed here by the people in Brisighella," Senna said. "The event was a great success with many of my Italian fan club also coming along which was great to see. The town really came alive.

"I have to thank everyone at Trofeo Lorenzo Bandini and all the people involved in organising the event. It's a huge honour to be chosen to receive such a prestigious award. I've seen some of the names who have won this in the past and what they have gone on to achieve in their careers, so let's hope this is just the start of greater things for me too. I'm really happy I was able to be here to see it all come together and thank you again to everyone for letting me be a part of this special event.''
