The FIA has shortened Suzuka's DRS zone by 20 metres for the Japanese Grand Prix this weekend.

The activation zone is still located on the pit straight with the activation after the final corner, albeit 20 metres further down the road than last year. The detection zone, where drivers must be within a second of the car in front to be allowed to activate the rear wing flap, is located 50 metres before the final chicane where the cars are often lining each other up for an overtaking move.

Suzuka has also resurfaced the whole West Course (from turn 7 until after the chicane) and installed new storm water drainage systems. However, a dry weekend is forecast after Typhoon Jelawat passed over Japan last week.
