Kaumi Kobayashi does not think Michael Schumacher will join Sauber in 2013 following the news that Lewis Hamilton has replaced him at Mercedes.

Schumacher has been linked to the team, which has yet to announce either driver in its 2013 line-up, but has made no comment on whether he will continue in Formula One for another season. Current Sauber driver Kobayashi cannot see the move going ahead, but said he would be happy to partner the seven-time world champion if it went ahead.

"I don't think that's realistic," he said. "Definitely I can work [with him if he came], but we have to ask Michael if he really wants to come to Sauber. It's easy to make a connection but I don't think he would want to come to Sauber."

As for his own future, Kobayashi said he was focusing on the coming races in the hope of proving himself as a worthy candidate for next season.

"I have no idea what I will do, but still we have six races. Especially, I think, Suzuka for me is pretty important so I just try to focus on that."
