Webber slams 'nutcase' Grosjean

Mark Webber branded Romain Grosjean a "first-lap nutcase" after a collision between the two on the opening lap of the race.

Heading in to turn two, Grosjean appeared to be focusing on Sergio Perez to his left and ran in to the back of the slowing Webber ahead, tipping the Red Bull in to a spin. The stewards handed Grosjean a 10 second stop/go penalty, while Webber recovered from the back of the grid to ninth place, but after the race he slammed Grosjean for ruining his race and described his recurring errors as "embarrassing".

"I haven't obviously seen what happened what happened at the start but the guys confirmed that it was first-lap nutcase again, Grosjean," Webber said. "The rest of us are trying to fight for some decent results each weekend but he's trying to get to the third corner as fast as he can in every race. It makes it frustrating because a few big guys have suffered out there today. Anyway, maybe he needs another holiday.

"He needs to have a look at himself obviously, it was completely his fault. How many mistakes can you make? How many times can you make the same error? First lap incidents ... so it's quite embarrassing at this level for him."

Analysing his own race, Webber said he did a good job to recover some points but felt luck had been against him throughout.

"We were on a one-stop strategy which is not exactly stimulating around here but we got something from it. We kept pushing, I didn't give up and finished eight seconds behind fifth place. Considering I was in reverse at one point - reversing away from the fence - and then obviously the safety car was in before I got back to the group, so we ticked all of the worst boxes again. Maybe I need to have a few whiskeys and maybe get some luck that way. But I'll come back in Korea and just keep doing what I'm doing."
