The organisers of the Goodwood Festival of Speed have said they will change the 2013 date following the FIA's revision of the Formula One calendar.

The 2013 Festival was originally scheduled for the weekend of July 5-7 as it was a free weekend between the British and German grands prix. However, the FIA this week moved the German race forward by a week in order to open up an additional slot for another European race on July 21, leading to a clash between the Formula One calendar and the Festival of Speed.

'Due to the FIA unexpectedly announcing a further change to the 2013 F1 calendar, the German Grand Prix will now take place on 5-7 July, the same weekend on which the Goodwood Festival of Speed was scheduled,' the Goodwood organisers said in a statement.

'Given that the Festival of Speed is the only event in the world outside of a World Championship Grand Prix where you can get a close up view of the latest F1 cars and drivers in action, we will now have to change the Festival's date in order to avoid this conflict with the amended Grand Prix calendar.

'Goodwood is now reviewing the 2013 Festival of Speed dates and will confirm these very soon. We apologise for any inconvenience this change may cause, but sadly this is outside of Goodwood's control.'

Tickets already purchased for the Festival of Speed will still be valid for the new date when it is announced.
