Ready Stefan GP hits out at US F1

Stefan GP will reveal its 2010 car next week in the hope that the FIA will allow it to take US F1's place in this year's championship.

Targeting US F1, a statement on Stefan GP's website said the troubled new team was "deliberately weakening F1" and that the FIA will have "trouble explaining" itself if there isn't a full grid at the first race. It also presented a receipt proving that the equipment it sent to Bahrain for the opening round of the season had arrived.

"Stefan GP would like to inform the public that the containers we sent on the beginning of February arrived in Bahrain," read the statement. "During next week we will show our Stefan Formula One car to the press as the final evidence that should put us on the grid in Bahrain.

"In case we don't receive the chance to compete in Bahrain, and also when some of the teams fail to show up, somebody should have trouble explaining what has happened to all of us. And the dreamers from the USA will have to explain their actions, because they are deliberately weakening F1, dreaming about a perfect world and fairytales of success. And success doesn't come by talking but with hard work and a lot of guts."

The announcement appears to have put an end to speculation Stefan GP and US F1 might be looking to merge. As a result, if Stefan GP is allowed to race its Toyota derived-chassis and engine in Bahrain, the FIA will have to allow it into the championship without going through a full tender process. A decison that could cause anger among the teams that originally applied for a place in F1 last year.
