Massa 'optimistic' of landing good drive in 2014

Felipe Massa is optimistic he can land a competitive race drive next year, saying he has some "good opportunities" to follow up.

Kimi Raikkonen will replace Massa at Ferrari next year, leaving the Brazilian looking for a new team or a move to a different series. He is known to have talked with Lotus as well as other teams and is believed to have substantial financial backing to help his cause.

Asked what his chances are of securing a competitive drive next year, he said: "I'm quite optimistic that we are going to find a good direction and a good solution. It will not change my mind, I want to have a car that will give me some good possibilities to fight, not a car that won't give me the opportunity to fight. I don't find that interesting.

"I'm still concentrating on the last few races. We are talking with a few teams but I don't think there is a right time to think about that. I think the right time is when you know where you're going. At the moment there are some good opportunities, I think, but it's better to wait and say at the right time."

Massa said he can help Ferrari with its preparations for 2014, but is not expecting any major parts for next year's car to be tested in the coming races.

"There's not a lot you can do for next year at the moment. The car will be completely different next year, so many things will be different, so it's not so easy to try things for next year on Fridays. Everything starts from zero next year, but if we do have new parts I hope I can help."
