Fernando Alonso has had his first taste of Ferrari's 2014 car in the team's simulator.

Following the end of the season in Brazil, Alonso has been busy in Spain with the opening of the Fernando Alonso Collection in Madrid. However, he returned to Ferrari's headquarters on Friday to work through new procedures which drivers will be required to carry out as a result of the new regulations next year.

"I'm pleased with the way the day on the simulator went," Alonso told the official Ferrari website. "We managed to get through everything on the programme that we had in the pipeline. It was nice to be driving again, even if only in a virtual way. We went through a lot of ideas with the engineers: we are only at the start of a learning process which is moving forward all the time and it's nice to be able to contribute to it."

Ferrari will be testing Pirelli tyres in Bahrain next week alongside Red Bull, Mercedes and Toro Rosso, but driving duties will be carried out by Pedro de la Rosa and Jules Bianchi.
