STORY OF THE ROUND
Wigan went into their game against Championship side Millwall as hot favourites and didn't disappoint, with Shaun Maloney given the freedom of Wembley to put the Latics into the lead. Callum McManaman then showed great composure to score his side's second goal 12 minutes from time just when the Lions were looking dangerous. Man City held out against a spirited Chelsea comeback to book their place. Goals from Samir Nasri and Sergio Aguero had put Roberto Mancini's side in the ascendancy and, although Demba Ba pulled a goal back, there would be no equaliser.
Demba Ba (Chelsea) Ba picks up the award for the second successive round with another wonderful piece of acrobatic skill. David Luiz played a hopeful ball forward through the centre, which shouldn't have caused Vincent Kompany and Matija Nastasic problems - but Ba span and fired a fine effort in off the post.
Callum McManaman (Wigan Athletic) McManaman has been in the headlines for the wrong reasons recently, but he proved he has a bright future with an inventive display against Millwall. He capped an energetic performance with the crucial second goal, dancing round David Forde to slot home.
