St Etienne midfielder Blaise Matuidi has suggested he would welcome a move to Paris St Germain this summer.

St Etienne have revealed there is a €15 million release clause in Matuidi's contract amid reported interest from the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Newcastle.

With PSG now showing interest, though, the 24-year-old France international appears happy to remain in Ligue 1.

"I have a contract with St Etienne and so I was prepared to return for pre-season," he told Le Parisien. "Having played well doesn't guarantee a move. My wishes haven't changed, but there are things I can't control.

"I'm a St Etienne player, but what is true today may not be true tomorrow. PSG are an attractive club, although other clubs could be attractive too."

Asked if he has had contact with PSG, he said: "Out of respect for St Etienne, it's too early to talk about this. As of now, no club has made a concrete bid."

On whether his release clause is too high, he said: "That's something that's out of my control. The bosses are in charge here. I respect their wishes and I hope they'll respect mine; for now, I'm working on having a good start to the season, and that may be at St Etienne."
