Barcelona striker David Villa has repeated his wish to see Spain team-mate Cesc Fabregas join him at the Nou Camp next season.

Arsenal captain Fabregas has long been linked with a move to Barca and this summer he is finally expected to return to the club where he began his career.

However, Gunners manager Arsene Wenger insists he intends to keep hold of the midfielder, despite wide-spread reports that Fabregas is determined to leave Emirates Stadium, and will fight off the interest for a third year.

Villa, who joined Barcelona from Valencia last year, is eager to link up with his international team-mate at club level and has made his feelings on the subject very clear.

The Spain striker, who won the 2010 World Cup with Fabregas, told Sport.es: "I am not hiding what I think of Cesc. I have a weakness for him. I view him as a friend and hopefully he will complete his transfer."

Fabregas, who is valued at over £35 million by the Gunners, did not travel with the rest of the squad on their pre-season tour of Asia.

However, the 24-year-old has vowed to make amends for his absence. He wrote on Twitter: "Im sorry to all the fans in Asia that I won't be on the tour. After just returning from Indonesia I know how special you all are. I'll make it up."
